Campfire Potluck and More

If you love the outdoors as much as I do, you don’t want to spend the day in camp getting’ ready for the potluck or fixin’ dinner for the hungry crew that’s been ridin’ the dusty trails. Below are some web sites I've collected with excellent recipes that will get you cookin' so you can keep ridin' all day long! I’ve also included some of my favorite recipes and a few tips for those that don’t want to bother with cookin’ at all. There may be new and exciting dishes to try. · Unless provided, bring your own table service and your favorite beverage. · Bring your dish/dishes in a disposal container – unless you want to keep track of your dish. · Bring the serving utensils unless your dish doesn’t require them, disposable is good here too, if you don’t want to keep track of your utensils. · What to bring? Now for those that don’t want to cook here are a few tips for you: · On your way to camp swing by Albertson’s, Food-4-Less, Safeway, Adam’s Ribs, KFC or your favorite deli · Fried Chicken is always a favorite at potlucks (any form is acceptable. . legs, wings, fingers, you get the idea) Once purchased cool it down. You can serve it hot or cold! If you burn the bucket in the fire before anyone notices, you can claim you spent all week frying chicken before you left for the potluck! · BBQ ribs are great, but remember you will need to warm them before the potluck, so bring some aluminum foil, wrap them up tight and set beside the fire about 20 minutes before time for dinner. The smell will drive everyone crazy and you don’t need to tell them you stopped at Adam’s ribs before coming to camp! · How about sliced deli meats or a roll of hard salami and cheese, add a few crackers or a simple loaf of sour dough and you’ve got a hit. There is a little prep at your campsite before heading to the potluck, but it is minimal. · You want sides. . . Potato Salad is always a favorite and you can buy it almost anywhere already prepared. . remember it has mayo so keep it cool before you serve. You can make it your own by adding some diced ham, bacon or salami, maybe some slice black olives and chopped celery what ever you like. There is bound to be someone else that will think it is wonderful. · A bag of lettuce and a bottle of salad dressing work wonders when your in a hurry · Coleslaw comes in a bag and there is even coleslaw dressing. · Desserts. . .How about Costco cookies or sweet breads. Fresh baked pie from a deli or a cake if you have space to keep it cool.
